Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony has scotched rumours that his club have had a bid accepted for Oldham centre-back George Edmundson.
Football Insider reported that the League One side’s £600k+ bid had been accepted for a player Rangers have tabled multiple bids for this summer.
Rangers have had two bids rejected for Edmundson, with the last reported at £500k+. The Daily Record had previously reported that Rangers were considering upping their bid to meet the Oldham valuation of £1million. Edmundson has put a transfer request in and has said he wants to move to Rangers.
MacAnthony was asked by a fan whether there was “any truth in the Edmundson done deal rumour”.
The Peterborough owner replied emphatically saying, “I’m now on holiday for a couple [of] weeks. No deals ongoing for a little while. So ignore any s***e written on transfer blogs.”

OPINION
MacAnthony engages with fans on Twitter regularly and is fairly open about what’s going on with transfers. However, if a bid had been accepted from Peterborough, it’s doubtful that even the engaging owner would risk jeopardising it by announcing a deal prematurely. He will know that Rangers are super-keen to land the centre-back and both clubs seem to be bidding around the same £500-£600k level. However, Oldham are holding out for £1million, a sum that Rangers were said to be considering, and it would be a surprise if they accepted a lower bid before the game has played out completely. It could be a means of flushing Rangers out – forcing their hand to up their bid to above £600k to get a deal done. We don’t think this one is done yet and the player himself wants to go to Rangers. We think that’s where he’ll end up but for a fee that probably ends up being higher than the £600k Peterborough are reported to have offered.
