Leeds United have been knocked back in their double approach for Liverpool duo Ryan Kent and Harry Wilson, according to Football Insider.

Both players spent last season on loan away from Anfield, with Kent turning out for Rangers and Wilson facing off against United several times in a spell with Derby County.

Between them they hit 24 goals in all competitions, and it was understood that while Marcelo Bielsa had made an approach for the pair, as reported by Football Insider, he has been knocked back in his attempts to land the Anfield pair.

OPINION

This is a bit of blow for Leeds. It is widely understood that Bielsa is keen to bring in reinforcements in the wide positions, and he would have pulled off an absolute masterstroke if he had managed to land Kent and Wilson. Both enjoyed stellar campaigns last season, and both look for all the world as if they have big futures at the top level. They undoubtedly need another season to develop, and that’s why you can understand why Bielsa was keen to snap them up. As it is, he will have to look elsewhere for his new additions, but you would expect a manager as meticulous and dedicated as him to have a fair few options up his sleeve. This is a blow right now, but in the long term, the Argentine will have a solution, as he so often does – that’s why they love him at Elland Road.
