Leeds United are in hot pursuit of Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers, according to the Irish Sun.

The newspaper claims that Norwich are also interested in the 20-year-old, who made his first two senior appearances for the Cherries in the final two matches of last season.

The Irish shot-stopper kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win against Tottenham on his Premier League debut and it is understood that his promotion to the first team means that he is expected to be handed a new deal by Bournemouth.

However the Irish Sun adds that terms are yet to be finalised and a loan move away from the south coast on the cards, which has alerted Leeds and Norwich.

Good move for Leeds?

Travers did look impressive in his debut against Tottenham when he made a string of saves to earn his side a win, however in the next match he conceded five goals in a 5-3 defeat to Crystal Palace.

The 20-year-old does seem like a good young goalkeeper, but there have to be doubts about whether he would be an improvement on Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Kiko Casilla.

Both of Leeds’ goalkeepers are way more proven and just because Travers had one good game out of two last season, doesn’t make him a sure bet to come in at Elland Road and do better than Peacock-Farrell and Casilla.

If Casilla leaves this summer then Travers might be a good back-up option for Peacock-Farrell, but why would he be interested in a move like that?

This seems too risky for Leeds.

Likely to happen?

Travers will surely sign a new contract with Bournemouth.

If he is going to be Eddie Howe’s number one choice next season, staying put at the Vitality is definitely a better option for him than moving down to the Championship or moving to Carrow Road to become Daniel Farke’s second-choice.
