Rangers might not have picked up a trophy last season under Steven Gerrard, but you’d be hard pressed to find a fan who doesn’t think the club has made huge strides forward.

Gerrard had a massive job to overhaul the failing squad that he inherited and he did a brilliant job considering it was his first season in charge of a senior side.

The real test comes this summer and more will be expected for his second season in charge – and success will depend on the players that he can bring to Ibrox this summer.

Ryan Kent is a player that Rangers would love to have back on loan, but the Daily Record claims that Liverpool are yet to decide on the future of one of their most promising youngsters.

However, Sheyi Ojo is set to be the latest Liverpool youngster to make the move to Rangers and he won’t be the last.

There’s a line in the Daily Record report that should thrill Rangers fans: “Sending Kent on-loan to Rangers was a major success last season and it is an avenue that Jurgen Klopp wants to continue to use for the development of his young players under Anfield legend Gerrard.”

This is a massive boost for Rangers, with Liverpool boasting a number of exciting young players who would grace the Rangers side.

There’s still a big chance that Kent could come back. Klopp was obviously happy with how things worked out for Kent and trusts Gerrard to develop his young players.

That’s a win-win but it’s Rangers who will benefit most from this, with the sort of access to PL players that Celtic can only dream of.
