Rangers will find out in the middle of July whether they will be able to bring Ryan Kent back to the club, according to the Daily Record.

The 22-year-old has recently linked back up with the Liverpool Under-23s setup, after finishing an impressive loan spell at Ibrox where the winger scored six goals and set up nine others.

A previous report (The Scottish Daily Mail, via a Daily Record live transfer blog [Monday, 7:37am]) said that Rangers were keen on securing Kent a second temporary spell at Ibrox, but the Daily Record says that nothing is likely to be confirmed until the middle of July.

The source claims that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will conduct pre-season checks on the entirety of his squad, with the German likely to have a good look at Kent in games against Tranmere Rovers and Bradford City on July 11 and July 14, respectively.

OPINION

Can Rangers really wait that long to find out information on whether Kent will be back at Ibrox next season? They may have to, if this report from the Daily Record is true. It’s likely to be true, as well, because there is no way Klopp will let the winger go without getting a good look at his progress. Kent had a great season under Steven Gerrard, and he is sure to have caught the eye of the Reds boss. It could be that Kent plays some part in those games then goes straight off to Rangers again, or to another club. His final destination ahead of the new season is of course up in the air still, and it could be a good few weeks yet before we hear anything official on his movements. One thing is for sure, though: Rangers fans will definitely want him back at the club next term.
