Midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has suggested he could potentially leave Everton during the summer transfer window.

Schneiderlin endured a frustrating season at Goodison Park this term, making just ten Premier League appearances despite starting the season as Marco Silva’s first choice in midfield, before loanee Andre Gomes forced his way into the team.

The 29-year-old has two-years remaining on his current £100,000-a-week deal [Spotrac.com] at Everton, but after finding his first team opportunities limited this term the Frenchman has suggested he could be open to a move to another club if he received the right offer this summer.

“Today I still have two-years of contract and I am a bit divided. I arrived I had a good performance and the next season was a bit more complicated,” Schneiderlin told Winamax.

“For the moment I [have the view] to respect my contract, after we will see. If the club wants to sell me and I am offered an interesting project for me, anything is possible.”

OPINION

It will be interesting to see what happens with the future of Schneiderlin this summer, with the Frenchman unlikely to be one of Silva’s first choices to start in midfield next term. The 29-year-old still has two-years left on his deal so the midfielder could opt to sit out his current deal over the next two-seasons. Silva did give the Frenchman a little more game time towards the end of the season, and Everton have lost Gomes for the moment with the Portuguese heading back to Barcelona after his loan deal with the Toffees came to an end. Therefore, there could still be an opportunity for Schneiderlin to play some role for Everton next season, but were he offered the chance of regular game time elsewhere it might be best for both parties if he moves on this summer. Silva could then use his wages to go and recruit a midfielder who he can afford more game time to at Goodison Park next term.
