Everton have surely been handed a major boost in their reported hunt to sign Tottenham left-back Danny Rose after the England international admitted that he may be on the move this summer.

Rose, 28, has plunged his Tottenham future into doubt with his latest comments, suggesting that the club’s policy of moving on players in and around their 30s might mean the end of his days in North London.

The former Leeds player turns 29 next month, and he believes that could be a main reason as to why Spurs will try to cash in on him before next season kicks off.

“I don’t know what the future holds now. I’m looking forward to a break. If I’m back at Tottenham next season, great, if I’m not – great. I’ll just have to wait and see,” the left-back told Sky Sports.

“It’s not about regular first-team football. I know my age and I know how the club’s run in terms of if you get to a certain age they might look to ship you on.

“It has been no secret that my name has been mentioned quite a few times in terms of players moving on and I’ll be just sitting tight over the next few weeks and just seeing what happens. Either way I’m prepared for whatever happens.”

Rose’s honesty about his future is more than likely going to be music to the ears of Marco Silva and Marcel Brands, who have reportedly been eyeing up a deal for the £60,000-a-week [Spotrac] defender.

The Mirror has reported that Everton are interested in snapping up Rose this summer and the Daily Star has even claimed that the Toffees have proposed a player-plus-cash deal to Spurs, which would involve them sending Lucas Digne to North London, and getting Rose and a transfer fee in exchange.

Digne was superb for the Blues in his debut season in the Premier League, but if Silva wants to sign Rose, there’s a good chance that the Frenchman will be moved on.

According to BBC Sport, Leighton Baines has been offered a new one-year deal, so it is unlikely that Everton would be willing to have three senior left-backs on their books.

If Rose is signed then Digne will surely have to be sold, and as Spurs would need a new left-back once the England international leaves, the swap deal actually makes a bit of sense.

Rose’s career at Tottenham seems to be on it’s way to ending this summer, which is a shame for the Spurs fans because they have been loving the left-back’s performances in the last few months.

However if he was going to head anywhere, it sure seems like Goodison Park is the most likely destination at the moment.
