Everton have agreed personal terms to re-sign Andre Gomes from Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Spanish news outlet claims that although Gomes, 25, and the Toffees have an agreement, the Merseyside club is yet to table a bid to Barcelona.

It is understood that West Ham have offered more to sign the Portugal international and would be willing to pay Barca up to £26.6million to lure him to the London Stadium.

However it would appear as though Everton are edging closer to a deal to re-sign the central midfielder after he impressed while on loan at Goodison Park last season.

Good move for Everton?

Absolutely.

Gomes was fantastic for the Toffees last season as he made 29 appearances across all competitions as he and Idrissa Gueye form a great partnership in the heart of Marco Silva’s midfield.

If the Blues are unable to sign Gomes then they would have to shop elsewhere to fill the void that he left when his loan spell expired at the end of the campaign.

Snapping up the former Valencia ace should be a straightforward deal once a fee has been agreed with Barca and that will save Silva and Marcel Brands a lot of time and effort in trying to find a replacement.

Likely to happen?

It just seem like it’s a matter of time before Everton sign Gomes permanently.

Even though West Ham are reportedly offering more, they are unable to strike a deal, which would suggest that the Portuguese midfielder’s heart is set on a return to Goodison Park.

Once a fee is agreed with Barca, this should all be wrapped up quite fast but so far in the Premier League, there aren’t many clubs making concrete efforts to sign players.
