OPINION
Chelsea have either dropped a massive hint that Frank Lampard is on his way back to Stamford Bridge, or the person who runs their official Twitter account is a massive troll. Or, it’s just a huge coincidence. Either way there are many Chelsea fans on Twitter who are thrilled with a tweet that says Lampard became a Blues player on this day in 2001. Their tweet seems to be teeing up an announcement of the ex-midfielder’s return to Stamford Bridge after it was reported by ESPN that Maurizio Sarri is set to leave and take charge at Juventus. It is understood that Lampard, who enjoyed a solid debut season in management last season with Derby, is the front-runner to replace Sarri. Lampard is a Chelsea legend and at a time where fans feel as though they are disconnected from the club, welcoming back the 40-year-old would be the best thing that they can do to get supporters back onside.
