Peters: Bilic agrees two-year West Brom deal

|

talkSPORT broadcaster Geoff Peters has claimed an exclusive over Slaven Bilic agreeing a two-year deal to be the new West Brom manager.

In a tweet posted on Thursday morning, Peters said “Exclusive. Terms all agreed. Slaven Bilic is the new West Brom manager. He’s signed a two year contract.”

There has been no official confirmation on the news as yet but it looks like an announcement could be imminent.

OPINION

This is a major coup for West Brom. They didn’t handle the manager position very well last season and ultimately, while it’s too much to say it cost them promotion, it definitely hurt their play-off chances. Bilic did good things at West Ham before losing his job and he know has the chance to put that right at another club beginning with ‘West’. His appointment will go down well with fans who will be thrilled that such a big name is ready to take on the task of getting the Baggies back into the Premier League. Bilic will also have good contacts and the clout that can attract big players to the Hawthorns. We imagine that bookies will be shortening the odds of West Brom getting promoted pretty shortly, and it will also shine a bigger spotlight on the Championship, a league that already boasts the likes of Frank Lampard and Marcelo Bielsa.
