OPINION

Kiko Casilla’s days at Leeds could be numbered if the latest transfer report from the Irish Sun is true.

They claim that Leeds are in the hunt for ROI and Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers. 20-year-old Travers played the last two games of the season for Bournemouth but still doesn’t know where he is in the pecking order for next season. That could open up a loan move with both Leeds and newly-promoted Norwich interested.

Leeds currently have two goalkeepers, former number one Bailey Peacock-Farrell and new signing Casilla. If Leeds are on the lookout for a keeper like Travers, one of these will have to leave and the most likely is Casilla.

He joined from Real Madrid in an exciting deal in January but he hasn’t impressed at all and there has been lots of speculation that he could be set to leave.

Phil Hay, journalist from the Yorkshire Evening Post, said his exit was likely this summer and that the goalie was on “high wages”. The Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon also claimed he could be on the way out, with Leeds looking for a replacement.

That looks the case now, with Leeds interested in a loan deal for Travers and, despite the excitement from Leeds fans when he joined, we think they’ll be happy to see the back of him after a string of errors towards the end of the season and a howler in the play-off semi-final defeat against Derby.

And the reported £30k-a-week salary that he’s on, which makes him the biggest earner at Elland Road, can be used to bring in one or two quality Premier League loans.
