Rangers are in the hunt to bring Swedish defender Martin Olsson to Ibrox, according to Expressen.

The Swedish outlet report that the 31-year old’s contract with Swansea is set to expire in June, meaning he is now a free agent going into the summer transfer window.

Expressen report that Fenerbahce and Nottingham Forest are two clubs also said to be interested in Olsson.

The defender featured 17 times for Swansea this season in all competitions in his 2018/19 season, and is now looking for a new club after being released from the Welsh side.

Good move for Rangers?

Yes, to an extent.

Olsson hasn’t been at his peak for a few seasons now, reiterated by the fact that he has only recently been released by Championship side Swansea, however a move to Scotland could be the right decision in reviving his career.

This doesn’t mean that he has nothing left to give however, and the 47-cap international has lots of valuable experience in which he could bring to the Ibrox.

However, as he is a free agent, there isn’t much that can go wrong for Gerrard with this move, and it could prove to be a good transfer for the Scottish giants in the new season.

Likely to happen?

This move seems likely to happen.

As the former Swansea man in now a free agent, it seems likely that a move to a club of Rangers’ stature would be appealing for him, and would give him a huge chance to continue his career at a top level club.

Assuming there isn’t a whole host of other clubs looking at the wing-back, it could be that a move to Rangers would be a good move for both parties, and this would also help with squad depth and defensive options going into the new Scottish Premier League season.
