Aston Villa are not interested in signing Pablo Fornals, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.
The newly promoted side were linked with a move for the 23-year-old midfielder after a flurry of rumours on social media, but Nixon has been quick to put them to bed.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, he said: “Villa. Fornals. Nothing in that one”.

Fornals played 50 times for Villarreal this season, hitting five goals and assisting six more.
OPINION
Well this is a bit of a downer. You always have to be wary of sources on social media who fail to reference where they are getting their information from, and the chances are that this was all just a ploy to get Villa fans talking and to get mouses clicking. As it is, Nixon is a very reputable source with a really decent record on this kind of story, and if he says that this one isn’t a goer then it probably isn’t a goer. That’s a shame for Villa fans, who will no doubt have been drooling over Youtube compilations of the Spaniard, but they should take comfort from the fact that they are able to set their sights on players like him once again. You would expect a busy summer ahead at Villa Park, and even if it isn’t Fornals, there will no doubt be a number of impressive signings being worked on behind the scenes.
