OPINION
The chances are that Leeds United are going to have to be canny in the transfer market this summer. Funds are bound to be tight and the disappointment of failing to achieve promotion will no doubt have led to a sudden and sobering reassessment of what constitutes a realistic target in a window that could be make or break for the Yorkshire giants. Get it right and they will go up next year. Get it wrong and there is every chance that they could be stuck in the Championship for the foreseeable future, especially if Marcelo Bielsa walks. As such, they need to strike a balance between quality additions and thrifty spending. And that’s why many fans are urging the club to swoop for Micah Richards. The defender has endured a torrid spell at Aston Villa in recent years, and was one of a host of players released by the Villans after their promotion back to the Premier League, as reported by the BBC. Injuries have been an issue for the 30-year-old, but you can’t help feeling that if he can get himself fit and confident again, he could be a really great option for a Championship side looking to push for the top flight. Leeds should take the gamble.

Richards is an obvious punt having not played in 3 years, but you offer a contract reflecting that and see how his medical goes. He was genuine quality not so long ago and still only 30. It's not that old. #lufc
