Harry Redknapp shared he thought it was brilliant that West Bromwich Albion had appointed Slaven Bilic to be their new manager.

The Baggies confirmed via their official website on Thursday that they had hired the Croatian to be their new head coach after he had agreed a two-year contract with them.

Redknapp was told the news by talkSPORT and shared he was really happy for Bilic as he was a great character who knew the game well, so he couldn’t be more thrilled that Bilic was heading to the Hawthorns.

“Ah brilliant, I love Slaven, I signed Slaven, I brought him to West Ham,” said Redknapp on talkSPORT (16:39, Thursday June 13th).

“So I’m really please for him, he is a great guy, a great character, knows the game, couldn’t be more pleased.

“I look forward to seeing him, I have managed some great Croatian players, eight or seven of them and he is one of them.

“So great to see him back.”

OPINION

It was easy to tell Redknapp was chuffed for Bilic as he sounded really cheery upon being told the news. It was nice to hear the experienced manager be really happy for the Croatian and hopefully West Brom supporters end up being just as thrilled as the former West Ham manager. Bilic has a huge task in front of him now he is in charge of West Brom as it doesn’t look like being an easy job on paper. The Baggies will be expecting him to guide the side back to the Premier League and won’t be happy if he doesn’t achieve this task. However you feel that the Baggies are set to have a weaker squad than they had last season, where they missed out on promotion, as a few of their players will surely leave to get Premier League football. The Baggies have already lost the very talented Dwight Gayle from their squad due to his loan spell ending, so it’ll be interesting to see how Bilic is able to get the best out of his new side.
