After dominating Scottish football once again, there is only so much work that Celtic manager Neil Lennon can do to improve his side at Parkhead.

The truth of the matter is that after three domestic trebles in a row, the focus for the Hoops has surely turned towards ensuring they seal 10 consecutive league titles as well as improving on the European stage.

The Bhoys did manage to make the Europa League last 32 in Brendan Rodgers’ final couple of months at the club but that was via the second tier European competition, Celtic failing to qualify for the Champions League.

They have the chance to rectify that this season ahead of the summer qualifying games but will need new arrivals to bolster their side, with a number of departures on the cards, especially in defence.

Mikael Lustig could be on his way out and with Jeremy Toljan returning to Borussia Dortmund, there is a dearth of right back options at Lennon’s disposal.

It is why they have been linked with Sheffield United’s George Baldock – although it would appear their hunt has hit a bit of a rough patch.

Football Insider claim that the 26-year-old, who helped the Blades to be playing Premier League football next season, is waiting to see if his current club are going to extend his stay at Bramall Lane, leaving Celtic playing a waiting game over their hunt, which Football Insider claim included a £3million bid being tabled.

With the Champions League qualifiers coming up, the Hoops have no time to waste and they cannot afford to be sitting on their hands, waiting for Baldock to get back to them.

They need to make him an ultimatum and force his hand over a move to Parkhead – if he chooses not to move, then at least they can pursue another much needed signing for a problem position.
