Barcelona are closing in on the signing of West Brom sensation Louie Barry, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claim on their website that the Spanish giants are interested in bringing the 15-year-old to the club after a prolific stint in the England under-15s squad, where the starlet scored 10 goals in five appearances.

Sky Sports report that West Brom are keen to keep a hold of Barry, but are worried over the draw of the La Liga champions amid their interest.

Despite only being 15-years-old, Barry broke into the West Brom under-18s this season, scoring four and assisting three goals in his 12 matches.

The young forward has been at the Midlands’ club since he was six-years-old and the Baggies are hoping that their youth policy and a first-team opportunity could see him stay at the club.

OPINION

Despite being only 15-years-old, Barry is clearly held in high-esteem at club and country level. It would be seen as a disastrous move should the youngster leave West Brom, but he cannot be blamed should he be tempted to join Barcelona, with the chance to better his development at the top of his list. At his age level, Barry is clearly one of the countries top prospects at this moment in time and his record speaks for itself. Any player that can play two years above his age range is special and a move to Spain could see him improve even more. West Brom will face a huge task in trying to persuade him to stay but the emotional attachment to the club could definitely play a huge part in his future. There is no doubting that this move could more than likely happen with the step from West Brom to Barcelona a monumental one, to say the least.
