Daniel Arzani has claimed that Celtic captain is a “maniac” on the field, and claims he is scared to showboat around him.

The Hoops skipper has developed something of a hard man reputation over the course of his career, and the Australian international believes it is justified.

Referring to a training ground incident between Brown and Bhoys starlet Armstrong Oko-Flex, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, he said: “I haven’t tried to nutmeg Broony, but we had a little incident when Armstrong came up for a training session. He tried to nutmeg him and called it, too. Broony absolutely crunched him.

“But Broony is a good guy. He’s an absolute maniac on the field, crazy, but in the changing room he’s a top bloke, easy going and chilled.”

OPINION

This is no real surprise is it? Brown loves nothing more than going through attackers, and it would appear that it doesn’t matter to him whether he shares a dressing room with them or not. You could definitely argue that the skipper could tone things down a bit when he’s dealing with a teenager just finding his feet in the game, but the flip side would be that opponents aren’t going to give Oko-Flex an easy ride just because he is young. Brown’s hardline approach might seem harsh in the first instance, but the reality is that it will help the youngster toughen up and prepare for the rigours of the senior game. Perhaps in time Oko-Flex will look back on Brown’s robust reducer as a decent life lesson. As for the Celtic captain, his reputation as one of the least forgiving midfield batters in the game remind well and truly intact.
