Everton fans should be blown away by the news that Andre Gomes has told his friends that he wants to make a permanent move to Goodison Park this summer.

According to the Daily Star, Barca are trying to sell Gomes, 25, to raise money for new additions at the Nou Camp but West Ham are the only team to have made a move so far by tabling a £20million bid for the central midfielder.

However it is understood that Everton are confident that they can whittle down Barca’s £30million asking-price as the La Liga giants “believe” that the Portugal international is heading to Goodison Park this summer.

The Toffees are yet to table a bid of their own, but they do not seem to be in a hurry because they believe Gomes is bound to join them this summer based on what he has told his friends, as well as Barcelona’s stance.

It is great news for the supporters, who have loved Gomes’ performances on Merseyside this season as he formed a superb partnership with Idrissa Gueye in the heart of Marco Silva’s midfield.

Many Evertonians made it clear earlier this year that they want the former Valencia playmaker to be handed a permanent deal at Goodison Park due to his fine performances in the Premier League, in which he made 27 appearances and scored one goal this term.

And now it appears as though Silva and director of football Marcel Brands are on their way to securing the purchase of the £110,000-a-week [Spotrac] star, based on what Barca and the player are expecting.

Gomes is a player in his peak years who has exemplary ball control and is already proven to be a top performer on Merseyside.

If there is one deal for supporters to be excited about this summer, then it has to be this one as it appears to be getting closer and closer.
