Leeds will ship centre-back Aapo Halme out on loan this season as they look to bring in Brighton player Ben White on loan, according to Football Insider.

Leeds have made what FI call an ‘exploratory move’ to bring in White on loan with the report claiming they are closing in on the PL youngster.

Marcelo Bielsa sees a future for Halme at Leeds but thinks he needs a season out on loan to develop, and Leeds are keen to place him in England with a League One destination the most possible.

The report claims Leeds are ‘ready to green light’ his exit.

The 6’5″ colossus, who signed from Helsinki in January 2018, made five appearances last season including four in the Championship.

OPINION

Halme looked a bit raw in the games we watched him in last season but Leeds won all four games when he featured and only conceded one goal against QPR. Fans seemed to like what they saw and we think he has a future at Leeds. A loan move will do him the world of good though and he won’t be short of suitors – his physical presence would be brilliant in League One. Ben White, at 21, is the same age, but Bielsa obviously thinks that the Brighton defender is more advanced. He spent the second-half of last season on loan at League One side Peterborough where he made 16 appearances. White has only made two senior appearances for Brighton and is likely to see another loan move as the best for his continued development. Peterborough fans think that Leeds would be getting a solid signing , with one saying he’s “calm and composed on the ball” and that he likes to run out from the back. That would fit in perfectly with the Bielsa philosophy at Leeds.
