OPINION
Moments after clinching the Scottish Cup on Saturday, and with it a Treble Treble, Celtic announced on their official Twitter account that caretaker manager Neil Lennon had been offered the job as the permanent Hoops boss. It’s safe to say that the news didn’t go down particularly well with the majority of the club’s supporters. Many of them merely produced variations of the same sentiment, namely that they aren’t very happy with the announcement and the timing of it. Clearly they don’t see Lennon as a particularly ambitious hire from Celtic. Yes, he came in mid-season and helped guide them to the Treble Treble, but he’s not a top class manager, is he really? He’s a decent operator who has done well for the club in the past, but is he really what’s needed to help take this Celts team to the next level? He’s not Rafael Benitez, Jose Mourinho, or any of the other outstanding names linked with the club over the past few months. They might have been overly ambitious targets, of course, but to then settle for Lennon clearly rankles with the fans somewhat.

Shambles. Love Lenny but too much of a fan. Tactically not going to build on previous work. Cheap way out.
