According to Sky Sports, Manchester City are close to completing a deal to sign Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes and then they want to wrap-up a deal for fellow Portuguese midfielder Joao Felix.

Boss, Pep Guardiola  sees the 19-year-old attacking midfielder as the long-term replacement for David Silva.

A deal for Felix is said to be on the cards once Bruno Fernandes is brought to the club, but the former is attracting interest from clubs across Europe.

Felix has scored 18 times during his breakthrough season in Portugal and the pair could link-up with fellow Portuguese international Bernado Silva once deals are finalised.

Good move for Manchester City?

The two players that are said to be wanted are both immensely talented. Felix has been touted for great things and to score 18 times during your breakthrough season is nothing short of spectacular for an attacking midfielder. David Silva will be moving into the final year of his contract and at 33, City will need to think about replacing him sooner rather than later. Felix, as underlined by Guardiola, would be a fitting long-term replacement.  Fernandes is an accomplished midfield operator who will fit the mould well at City, his range of passing and eye for goal will be welcomed with open arms.

TIF Rating: 8/10.

Likely to happen?

The deal for Bruno Fernandes looks to be all but finalised, once it is confirmed City can then pursue Joao Felix. Both deals make sense from a City point of view and with other clubs showing serious interest, they will be wanting to make moves to avoid any major transfer sagas.

TIF Rating: 8/10.
