19-year-old Chelsea goalkeeper Marcin Bulka is set to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer and has travelled to France to sign a pre-contract agreement with PSG, according to Goal.

Bulka has been an unused substitute on two occasions for the Blues this campaign in the EFL cup, but is set to depart Chelsea to provide cover for PSG’s Gianluigi Buffon and Aplhonse Areola.

The stopper was picked up by Chelsea from one of Barcelona’s training bases in Poland, FCB Escola Varsovia. He was brought to the club three years ago but lost his spot as number one in the academy ranks after Jamie Cumming rubber-stamped his position. Bulka did not feature during the second half of this season.

Chelsea’s enormous hotbed of talent has resulted in opportunities being few and far between and with that in mind, Bulka may believe that his services would be more recognised elsewhere.

Goal also reported that a contract extension was offered to Bulka, however, the deal has not been accepted leaving him free to negotiate with other clubs.

Good move for Chelsea?

Given the amount of players that Chelsea have coming through the academy ranks, in addition to the large number of players that are out on loan, the move makes little difference to Chelsea. Bulka lost his position as first choice academy goalkeeper to Jamie Cumming towards the second-half of this season and his chances of game-time became slim. A young player departing Chelsea has little effect and with Bulka departing, Cumming will have a better chance of making the step-up.

TIF Rating: 6/10.

Likely to happen?

Given that Bulka has already travelled to Paris to hold talks, the move seems likely. A contract was offered to him from Chelsea and the 19-year-old was still keen to discuss other potential moves. The likelihood of Bulka remaining with the Blues is very slim. The chance to train alongside the likes of Buffon, Neymar and Mbappe will appeal to the best in the world, not to mention a young goalkeeper who is yet to make a major impact in the game.
