Wolves have opened talks to sign Salomon Rondon from rivals West Brom, according to The Daily Mail, and he would be a sensational signing for Nuno’s side.

Rondon was one of Newcastle’s standout players in the Premier League last season. The Venezuela international scored an impressive 11 goals in the league for a team who only scored 42 goals all season.

Wolves smashed their transfer record by signing Raul Jimenez on a permanent deal for £34 million and could bolster their attacking options further by capturing Rondon.

The 29-year-old would offer Wolves something different. His hold-up play is second to none and the Wolves midfield could really feed off his work. Jimenez and Rondon as a front two would cause any side in the division problems and with European football firmly in their sights if Manchester City defeat Watford in the FA Cup final, they need more depth and quality up front.

What really makes Rondon so attractive though, is the price. The £16.5 million buyout clause that Rondon now has in his extended West Brom contract makes him a steal.

That doesn’t get you a lot of striker these days and Rondon is better than most. With the Wolves creative talents providing for him he should score more goals than he did with Newcastle, and another 15+ goal-a-season striker could push Wolves up into the top six.
