Wolves supporters should be fearing the worst amid reports that manager Nuno Espirito Santo could potentially be an option to become the manager of AC Milan.

According to a report from Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.com, Nuno could be an option to replace Gennaro Gattuso at AC Milan, with the Portuguese’s agent Jorge Mendes believed to have proposed him as a potential candidate to the Serie A side.

That could be alarming news for Wolves supporters, with AC Milan having potentially significant funds to invest in the transfer market for their new permanent manager with the Italian side backed by billionaire Paul Singer, who is 19th on the Forbes list of highest-earning hedge fund managers.

That means that Milan would have plenty of money to buy Nuno out of his contract at Wolves, and entice the Portuguese manager with the potential for large amounts of money to build his side in the transfer market, to re-establish the Italian side at the top of the Serie A table.

Nuno’s agent Mendes has been responsible for pulling off a range of Wolves’ signings since the Portuguese was appointed the club’s manager, with the likes of Joao Moutinho, Ruben Neves and Rui Patricio all arriving at the club in the last few transfer windows.

That highlights how influential Mendes can be around Nuno and Wolves, and if the super-agent feels like his client might be a good fit for AC Milan next season, then he might move to try and secure a deal for the Portuguese manager to take over at the San Siro next term.

Wolves supporters should therefore be concerned that there are other clubs who could potentially look to bring in Nuno as their manager, but it should not come as a surprise after the Portuguese has performed brilliantly so far at the English club.

Nuno has managed to guide Wolves to the Championship title in his first year in charge, and then secured a seventh place finish in the club’s first year back in the top flight, which has resulted in qualification for next season’s Europa League.

Wolves will be desperate to keep hold of Nuno, and supporters will be hopeful that AC Milan do not move to tempt him to Serie A this summer.
