West Ham fans have every right to be excited by the club’s reported bid to sign Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes after the Portugal international had a superb season while on loan at Everton. According to the Times, the Hammers have offered £18million to sign Gomes, but Barca value the midfielder at being worth around double that. While West Ham are miles off with their opening bid, fans are understandably blown away by the efforts to sign someone who would so clearly be a good signing for Manuel Pellegrini. Gomes would walk into the starting line-up at the London Stadium, a place where he had one of his best performances in an Everton shirt this season. That might be why Hammers fans are so thrilled with the club’s efforts to sign Gomes because they have seen firsthand just how good he can be for them. Supporters just need to hope that the second bid is a lot more tempting for Barca.
