West Brom have tabled a second contract offer to midfielder Rekeem Harper, it has been confirmed.

Albion have announced via their official website that the club has “made a second and final offer” to the teenager, whose current contract is due to expire this summer.

Harper’s emergence into West Brom’s first team, coupled with his contract situation, has attracted attention from other clubs with the Daily Mail reporting that Tottenham are considering an offer for the teenager.

OPINION

West Brom should definitely try to do their best to keep Harper because it is clear that there is a good player in there somewhere, he has just hidden his true abilities in the last couple of months due to his air of uncertainty around his future. Harper is not good enough for a move to the Premier League just yet but he could be a key player for Albion next season in the Championship as they have a second shot at trying to win promotion. If he thinks he can leave The Hawthorns and join a club in the top-flight, and play anywhere near as much football, he is sadly mistaken and will fall into the ever-growing list of players who have quit the Baggies too soon to only fail elsewhere. Look at Izzy Brown and Saido Berahino and how their heads got turned by the promise of moving to a big Premier League side. One has struggled to get a game at Leeds this season and the other look as though he might be a non-league player in a couple of years.
