West Brom have opened talks with Danny Cowley as they aim to appoint their next permanent manager, according to Press Association reporter Nick Mashiter.
The reliable journalist claimed via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday that Lincoln City boss Cowley, 40, is one of four names that features on Albion’s shortlist.

Mashiter claimed last week that West Brom would have to pay League Two champions Lincoln £500,000 in compensation if they were to lure Cowley to The Hawthorns.
OPINION
Cowley is just the man that West Brom need to hire. The 40-year-old has only known success in his managerial career to date having done an impressive job at Concord Rangers, Braintree and Lincoln. At Concord he won three promotions in eight years before joining Braintree, where he achieved their highest-ever finish in the National League when they reached the play-offs in 2015/16. After an impressive season there he was hired by Lincoln, where he has since won two promotions in three seasons, won the EFL Trophy and also reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup as a non-league side. West Brom need someone different. Forget the old tired names that have been looked at in the past and they should certainly forget about hiring from within. Cowley has bright new ideas, has a proven track record of winning promotion and is just an all round good guy that fans will come to love.
