COMMENTARY
When coming up against a team with as much attacking quality as Aston Villa you know you are going to need your defenders to be on top of their game and West Brom boss James Shan got exactly what he wanted on Tuesday night. It was a tight, nervy encounter at the Hawthorns and despite going down to 10 men thanks to Chris Brunt’s red card, the Baggies managed to keep the Villans at bay and force a penalty shoot out. It might have been Craig Dawson who scored the all important goal down the other end of the pitch but it was Egyptian international Ahmed Hegazi who had the Hawthorns faithful drooling with the manner in which he marshalled the defence and dominated the likes of Tammy Abraham through not only the 90 minutes but extra time as well. His performance was top drawer and he was rightly celebrated on what must have been a gutting night for the home crowd.

Hegazi superb tonight. Just the one slip, which led to Brunt's second yellow.

However it ends tonight, our defence has been absolutely immense. Hegazi in particular. The Pyramid.
