Aston Villa have launched a £7.5 million bid for Luton Town defender James Justin, according to Football Insider.

The report claims that Villa were interested in the defender back in January and have now made the first move to bring the youngster to Villa Park.

The 19-year-old played 43 times in League One last term as Luton were crowned champions and won promotion to the Championship. Justin was named in the League One team of the season as a result of his impressive displays.

Justin has just one year remaining on his current deal at Kenilworth Road and Dean Smith is determined to sign the starlet regardless of what division they find themselves in next season.

Good move for Aston Villa?

The youngster is one of the brightest defenders the football league has to offer and he would be a very intelligent signing for any Championship club. £7.5 million is fair for a defender that is brimming with potential and has been one of the standout performers in the division. Having the likes of John Terry at the club would really help with the development of the starlet given Terry’s wealth of experience and knowledge. Regardless of whether Villa are in the Championship or not next term, this would be a very good buy for the future – Justin’s value could rocket in years to come.

Likely to happen?

Villa have reportedly been long term admirers of the defender so it comes as no surprise seeing them make a move. Dean Smith is clearly eager to bring the 19-year-old to Villa Park and they are the first club to make advancements in this window. Justin will not be short of suitors though with Leicester reportedly interested. This deal looks likely and Villa are now in the ascendancy.
