Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente is set to announce he is quitting after the Champions League final, according to Football Insider, and we hope he gets a suitable send-off from the fans.

It’s not been a glorious run at Tottenham over the past two years.

Signed for £13.5million from Swansea he’s chipped in with 15 goals in 65 appearances as back-up to Harry Kane.

Spurs need a second striker who can double that tally and then some.

Tottenham passed on an option of extending his contract and you won’t find any fans arguing with that.

However, he’s helped Tottenham get to the final of the Champions League, scoring twice against Dortmund and Man City and transforming the game in the second-half of the semi-final against Ajax.

That means he can leave Spurs with his head held high, with AC Milan, Roma, Valencia and Marseille reportedly interested in him.

He could end his Tottenham run on an unimaginable high, with a Champions League winners medal, although he’s likely to start on the bench.

What odds he comes on late and scores the winner in Madrid?

Okay, that might not happen, but we hope that Tottenham fans will recognise the contribution of a player who always gave his best for Spurs, even if his best wasn’t quite good enough.
