Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek could seal a switch to join Tottenham in the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper claims that Spurs have joined Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign the 22-year-old, who scored the only goal of the game in Ajax’s 1-0 win against the North London earlier this week.
It is understood that Tottenham are set to be in “prime position” to sign the Netherlands international for £45million once the transfer window re-opens.
The Mail adds that van de Beek is seen as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen and Spurs have a very strong relationship with Ajax as a number of their current players, including Eriksen, previously played for the Dutch giants.
Good move for Tottenham?
Van de Beek would be an extremely good signing for Tottenham and Daniel Levy should not hesitate to give Mauricio Pochettino the funds to sign the Dutch ace from Ajax in the summer.
He has made 53 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 16 goals and supplying 11 assists in the process.
Not all of the attacking midfielder’s goals have come against the easier sides in the Dutch Eredivise because he has found the net against the likes of Spurs, Juventus, AEK Athens and Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League and also scored against bitter rivals Feyenoord in the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup.
Van de Beek would be a great replacement for Eriksen and even if the Dane ends up staying put in the summer, Tottenham should really push the boat out to sign the Ajax star.

Likely to happen?
Tottenham are bound to face a lot of competition in the race for van de Beek’s signature and the interest from Bayern and Dortmund is a concern.
Levy cannot waste time in trying to sign the midfielder so he needs to meet Ajax’s valuation as soon as he can.
If he does that then Spurs have a good chance of landing the 22-year-old.
