Tottenham have lodged a complaint with UEFA after the governing body gave tickets in the home end to Ajax fans for the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, according to Times journalist Matt Hughes.
That led to incidents of crowd trouble in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the game that ended 1-0 to the visitors.
UEFA had reportedly distributed tickets through sponsor Heineken, a Dutch brewing company.
Trouble was sporadic and said to have been dealt with quickly.

It sounds like the Tottenham security team dealt with the problems very quickly and that they didn’t do much to disrupt the game for all but a handful of fans. However, if true, this is really irresponsible from UEFA and could have led to more serious trouble given the notoriety of some of the Ajax “ultras”. You can’t have away fans in the home end for any game, let alone one of this magnitude and checks are normally in placed to make sure it doesn’t happen. Tottenham are said to be waiting for a response from UEFA who should tighten up their act and ensure this doesn’t happen again. Tottenham fans pay a lot of money for their tickets and don’t want to have their experience ruined by away fans and flashpoints with Spurs fans who don’t take kindly to them being there. Fans should be able to watch a game together without fighting but in football we’re a long way away from that utopia.
