Tottenham keen on Ndombele

Tottenham could disrupt Juventus’ move for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele this summer, according to to reliable source Dean Jones.

The 22-year-old Frenchman is a man in demand, and it is understood that the Serie A champions were hoping to snap him up with relatively little competition.

Posting on his personal Twitter, Jones said: “Juventus were hoping for a clear run at Tanguy Ndombele but now fear United and Tottenham are going to throw big money at him.

“Both teams should probably do exactly that!”

Good move for Tottenham?

Definitely. Ndombele is a real battler in the centre of the park, and exactly the kind of player that would bring a much-needed steel and depth to this Spurs side. Things haven’t been easy for Mauricio Pochettino’s men this season, with injuries and the like, and there have been large chunks of the campaign when they have looked woefully understaffed in the centre of the park. Bringing in a player like Ndombele – massively talented but still only 22 – would not only help now, but provide a really decent long term solution.

Likely to happen?

Make no mistake, the going will be tough in the race to snap up Ndombele, but if Spurs can pull it off, it really would be worth it. If things do end up going to some kind of bidding war, however, and it’s looking increasingly likely that that could be the case, then it’s hard to see Spurs going toe to toe with clubs like Juventus or Manchester United. Their best bet would be landing an early knockout blow, but honestly, this looks like a long shot.
