Tottenham are plotting a summer swoop to sign Roma attacker Cengiz Under, according to Turkish-Football.

The Turkish news outlet claims that Roma might consider offloading the 21-year-old in the transfer window in a bid to balance the books if they miss out on qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

It is understood that although Under is negotiating a new contract with the Serie A giants, the Turkey international is open to joining a club in the Premier League as he aims to bag himself a pay rise on his current £17,000-a-week deal at the Stadio Olimpico.

Turkish-Football adds that Roma value Under at over £43.8million.

Good move for Tottenham?

Under has had an impressive season at Roma, scoring six goals and supplying 10 assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.

The former Basaksehir attacker clearly has a lot of potential and is definitely the type of player that Spurs should be looking at in the summer if they want to improve their attack force.

However Roma’s valuation for Under is ridiculously high at £43.8million and Mauricio should definitely look elsewhere if the Serie A club won’t lower their demands for someone who is clearly unhappy with his current paycheque.

Likely to happen?

At that price, no chance.

Daniel Levy is a very shrewd spender and he won’t let Pochettino splash the cash on players like Under when Tottenham already have a couple of players who can play in his position on the right wing.

Roma’s stance could change if they miss out on qualifying for the Champions League though.

With one match to play, Claudio Ranieri’s men are sixth in Serie A, three points behind fourth place and a spot in next seasons’ Champions League.

It seems unlikely that Roma will qualify for Europe’s top competition this month, so Under might become a bit easier to sign up.
