Tottenham could loan Jack Clarke back to Leeds United if they sign the young attacker from the Yorkshire club in the summer transfer window, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claims that Leeds want £20million for the 18-year-old, who Spurs want to sign as they aim to add more homegrown talent to their squad ahead of next season.

However it is understood in this twist on Clarke’s future that he could end up playing for Leeds for at least another season on loan, if he was to join Tottenham permanently this summer.

Good move for Leeds?

Clarke’s form definitely dropped after he was hit with a virus in February, but there is no doubting that the 18-year-old has a lot of talent and can help Leeds in their bid for promotion to the Premier League next season.

However if Spurs were to bid £20million, that is the sort of money that simply cannot be turned down because that can be used to strengthen multiple areas of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.

If Leeds are offered £20million, plus the player back on a season-long loan, they should be biting Tottenham’s hand off.

Likely to happen?

Why would Tottenham spend so much on Clarke and then let him go back to Leeds on loan?

While it would be a good way to continue aiding his development, it would not help them achieve what they are setting out to do and that is to boost their number of homegrown players.

Daniel Levy is unlikely to spend £20million on Clarke anyway. He probably won’t view him as being value for money with just 25 Championship appearances to his name.
