Tottenham have cooled their interest in signing Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha this summer after they learnt Palace’s valuation of the player, according to the Evening Standard.

The outlet report that Crystal Palace are not willing to allow Zaha to leave on the cheap, and have placed a £100million price tag on the Ivory Coast international which is thought to have put Tottenham off making a move.

It is believed that Tottenham were interested in Zaha last summer also but were unwilling to pay Palace’s asking price of £70million a year ago, which led to the 26-year-old signing a new deal that is thought to be worth £130,000-a-week and still has another four-years left to run.

However, the attacker has declared his ambition to leave Crystal Palace this summer, after helping Roy Hodgson’s side retain their Premier League status, and that has led to interest from a number of clubs in the 26-year-old, according to the Daily Mail.

OPINION

Given Tottenham are thought to have pulled out of a move to sign Zaha last summer due to Crystal Palace’s valuation of the attacker, it is unsurprising to see them reluctant to meet Palace’s price tag for the player this summer. Daniel Levy is not known for making massive investments in the transfer market, but that could need to change this summer with Mauricio Pochettino rightly hoping to be given more funds to spend. That comes after the Argentine has managed to get Spurs to the Champions League final and secure a fourth place Premier League finish despite making no additions to his squad in either of the last two transfer windows. If Tottenham are going to go into the transfer market this summer it appears as though they will be pursuing moves for other players rather than Zaha. The 26-year-old pace and flair could have been an excellent addition to Tottenham’s squad, with the winger scoring ten goals and providing five assists for a mid-table Premier League side this term. However, for £100million Spurs will probably feel they could make a few signings to improve their squad, rather than spending it all on the Palace winger.
