Tottenham fans should be thrilled to know that Fernando Llorente’s time in North London might not be over just yet after an update on the striker’s contract situation was reported.

Sky Sports claimed via their live transfer blog on Tuesday [02:06pm] that although Spurs missed the deadline to trigger a 12-month extension to Llorente’s deal, there is still the chance that he could pen a new agreement with the Champions League finalists.

It is understood that Spurs are considering talks with the 34-year-old about a new deal and he could still have a future in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The Daily Mail had previously reported that the Spanish target man looked certain to leave Tottenham after they missed the contract extension deadline last week and clubs like Valencia and AC Milan had become interested in signing him.

After seeing that report by the Daily Mail, many Tottenham fans on Twitter were left gutted to read that they could be losing the much-loved striker, who has played such a crucial role in helping them reach the Champions League final.

Llorente scored in knock-out round wins against Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City before playing a huge role as an impact substitute in the semi-final win against Ajax earlier this month.

With Harry Kane injured, the ex-Swansea striker has been the man that Pochettino has turned to in his hour of need and how he has delivered will go down in history at Tottenham.

Llorente has not had the best of spells in North London with him only scoring 13 goals in 65 appearances across all competitions since signing in the summer of 2017.

However there is no doubt that he will go down as a cult hero among Spurs fans for stepping up his game at just the right time, and they should be over the moon to see that there is hope yet of the veteran Spaniard extending his stay at the club despite what was previously reported.
