Former Professional Boxer and Everton fan Tony Bellew took to Instagram to praise Jordan Pickford after his display against Burnley.

The Toffees defeated Sean Dyche’s men 2-0 at Goodison Park on Friday, thanks to an own goal from Ben Mee, and a header from Seamus Coleman.

However Bellew opted to direct his praise on the man who helped the Toffees rack up another clean sheet, by dubbing Pickford’s latest display as great before sharing a post-match picture of the shot-stopper with his son.

Speaking on his personal Instagram account after the game, Bellew said: “Me little boys hero!! Great performance from him and the lads tonight! COYB”

Pickford has been crucial in recent months for Everton in their race to finish 7th, and has been putting in some impressive performances for sure, especially at Goodison Park. In their last five home fixtures, the Toffees have managed to keep a clean sheet, and in that period they’ve hosted the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, so it’s safe to say that their defensive home record is an impressive one. The England number one again showed his class in Everton’s fixture with Burnley, keeping his impressive clean sheet record intact with another sterling performance between the sticks. Along with Bellew’s son, Pickford has surely been the hero for many Everton fans after the season he’s had so far, and the 25-year old will no doubt be the first name on the team sheet in the Blues’ final game of the season, as they travel to the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time since it’s unveiling.
