Young midfielder Theo Hudson has signed a professional contract with Leeds United, it has been confirmed.

Leeds announced via their official Twitter account and official website on Monday that the 18-year-old has agreed new terms for a one-year-long professional deal that runs until the end of next season.

Hudson played for the Under-18s this season, appearing 23 times and scoring five goals, but will move up to the Under-23s ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

OPINION

Hudson will no doubt want to follow in the foot steps of Jack Clarke and Jamie Shackleton now that he has made the step up to the Under-23s and penned a professional deal with Leeds. He has a great season with the Under-18s but it does say a lot that Leeds were only willing to offer the teenage midfielder a one-year deal because it suggests that they are unsure about his long-term future at Thorp Arch. It seems like next season will be used as a chance for Hudson to win himself a new contract but that is going to be a tough job for him because playing for the Under-23s might be difficult. Carlos Corberan’s side had a great season and breaking into their starting line-up might be difficult for a greenhorn like Hudson. Hopefully he will get at least some chances to impress though and maybe attract the attention of Marcelo Bielsa, so long as he stays put at Elland Road.
