Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has praised Hoops frontman Odsonne Edouard after his brace against Heart of Midlothian on Saturday.

The Frenchman struck twice in the second half to pull Neil Lennon’s side back from a goal down to defeat Craig Levein’s side 2-1 at Hampden Park, giving them another Scottish Cup triumph as well as a Treble Treble.

Sutton was particularly impressed by the 21-year-old’s second goal of the game: ‘Brilliant finish,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account, along with some clapping emojis.

OPINION

It really was a delightful finish from Edouard to double his tally and put Celtic in head for the first time in the game. You could argue that the result was slightly harsh on Hearts, who stuck to a game plan and played very well on the day, but that bit of extra quality that the Hoops have in their locker is ultimately what made the difference. Edouard was the man who provided the cutting edge, not once but twice, although it was his finish for the second goal that really took the breath away. The Frenchman was the coolest man in Hampden Park as he raced clear through on goal and gently lifted the ball over Zden?k Zlámal in the Hearts goal. It’s been an interesting year for the Celtic frontman, who has had to solely shoulder the attacking burden for much of the campaign. He’s not always been at his exhilarating best, but he showed why he’s so important to Lennon’s team on Saturday, coming up trumps when his team needed him most.
