Stan Collymore has reacted to Karamoko Dembele’s Celtic debut on Twitter after the Bhoys beat Hearts 2-1 at Celtic Park on the final day of the Premiership yesterday.

Dembele came on at half-time and caught the eye with his pace, dribbling and ability to beat a man.

Celtic will meet Hearts again on May 25 in the Scottish Cup Final and yesterday’s game was an opportunity for some of their main men to rest. Dembele, 16, was handed his professional debut.

Former England international Stan Collymore reacted to Dembele’s performance on his Twitter account and seemed to be impressed with what he saw.

OPINION

Karamoko Dembele has been tipped to achieve big things in the game. However, he is just 16-years-old and it’s important that Celtic slowly integrate him into the team rather than throwing him in at the deep end. His performance was impressive yesterday – every time he got the ball he looked a threat and his talent was there for everyone to see. The youngster could easily play a bigger part next season and every bit of experience at his age will be vital for his development. It would be good for Dembele to be part of the Scottish Cup final squad that will play Hearts again on May 25 and that will give him even more confidence in his own ability. Receiving praise and acknowledgement from figures like Collymore will also help with his belief and confidence – Celtic fans must hope that the youngster manages to remain grounded with all the hype around him. It’s something that former manager Brendan Rodgers was very concerned about.
