Tottenham believe that Christian Eriksen’s value will rocket by £20 million if he shines in the Champions League final on June 1 against Liverpool, according to Football Insider.

The report claims that Mauricio Pochettino will face a battle to keep the Denmark international this summer even though owner Daniel Levy has placed a £140 million price tag on his head.

The 27-year-old’s current deal with Spurs runs out in 2020 and contract talks have not yet taken place leaving the midfielder’s future uncertain.

Eriksen has scored 12 and assisted 17 in all competitions this season and Spurs will be desperate to keep hold of one of their most potent threats.

OPINION

Losing Eriksen would be a major blow for Spurs – it’s highly unlikely that they would be able to replace him with a midfielder who is capable of scoring and assisting as many as he does.  Spurs would be losing his brilliant set-piece threat alongside his keen eye for goal and it could have a seriously damaging effect on the whole team. With that being said, if they did receive an enormous offer for him it would be very difficult to turn down. Eriksen’s talents will be on show during the Champions League final with the whole world watching and if he is able to impress, his value could indeed increase. If Spurs do become champions of Europe they will no doubt attract bigger names and replacing Erisken would become easier. Getting a massive fee for him would help too with Mauricio Pochettino keen to rebuild his squad. Losing Coutinho for £140m wasn’t seen as a positive by most Liverpool fans at the time but it worked out okay for Jurgen Klopp, who invested in Virgil van Dijk and Alisson and almost landed the Premier League title.
