Southampton are weighing up a bid to sign Hull City forward Jarrod Bowen, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that Burnley and Bournemouth are also interested in signing Bowen but the Saints are currently leading the chase for the 22-year-old, who is valued at £15million by Hull.

It is understood that the Championship club could cash in on the former Hereford attacker in the summer transfer window with his current contract set to expire at the end of next season.

Good move for Southampton?

Bowen has been in electrifying form in the Championship for Hull this season and he is certainly someone that Ralph Hasenhuttl should be interested in signing in the summer.

The wide-forward has scored 21 goals in 45 appearances in the league for the Tigers this term and considering he is also young and English, £15million seems like a fair sum of money to spend.

Southampton have diced with relegation in the last two seasons and they need to push on and make their squad one that can push for the top-half again.

Bowen is the kind of player who can add some fresh impetus into their attack while also being someone who could be a good financial investment.

Likely to happen?

It seems as though Hull might cash in on Bowen in the summer and if word gets out about that then you can expect a lot of teams in the Premier League to be interested in the in-form attacker.

Southampton, at the moment, are said to be in pole position to sign Bowen, but that could change over the next few weeks as clubs start to turn their attention to the upcoming transfer window.
