Some Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to tear into goalkeeper Scott Bain following his error in the first half against Hearts on Sunday, and they have every right to. He received the ball in his six-yard box and spent too much time on the ball, before he was intercepted and Hearts scored an easy equaliser. It is not the first time Bain has produced such an error, and this time it cost his side dearly. Yes, this tie is a dead-rubber one for both sides and the big clash between these two comes next Saturday in the Scottish Cup final, but there is no excuse in any game to produce an error like this. These Celtic fans have got their assessment of the mistake exactly right. The goalkeeper should have simply cleared it rather than trying to find the perfect pass, and it will put a doubt in some fans’ minds ahead of the final next weekend. With Craig Gordon waiting in the wings, should the veteran take his place among the starting XI back? Only time will tell what Lennon is thinking.

Somebody needs to tell Scott Bain he’s not Beckenbeaur. He is pish. Lacks presence in the goal to be anything other than average. Gets away with in in Scotland because we dominate 90 percent of the play. #CELHEA
