Dean Smith has delivered an update on the future of Aston Villa loan trio Anwar El Ghazi, Kortney Hause, and Tyrone Mings.

The Villans’ boss confirmed that the club have clauses in place to buy Hause and El Ghazi if they wish to, as well as an option to match any prospective bids for Mings in the coming window, as reported by Martin Laurence of Who Scored.

Hause and El Ghazi were signed from Wolves and LOSC Lille respectively last summer, while Mings was brought in from Premier League side Bournemouth in January.

OPINION

This will be music to Villa fans’ ears. To be fair, it doesn’t guarantee anything with regards to the trio, but it does put the club in the driving seat this summer. El Ghazi and Hause have both been fine contributors this season, and the Dutchman was on the scoresheet with a crucial goal at Wembley on Monday, but it will be the clause in Mings’ deal that is most pleasing. The defender has been imperious since signing in January, and it is no exaggeration to say that he has helped transform Villa’s fortunes. Performances like that are always going to catch the eye, and the fear will have been that the Villans would be usurped in their bid to make him a permanent addition. This way, however, they should be able to go toe to toe with anybody looking to steal him away, and you would hope that Mings’ time at Villa Park has been enough to convince him to stay at the club next season.
