Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko has admitted that his future in North London is not certain.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has previously threatened to leave, saying that there would be no way to top a Champions League triumph this season.

The club have a chance to lift their first such trophy by beating Liverpool, having got past Manchester City and Ajax in truly remarkable fashion.

Speaking to Canal Sport Football Club, Sissoko – who was one of Spurs’ best players in the second half of the season in a defensive midfield role – said that “anything can happen” in football.

“At the end of the season, it could be that they have a new project, that a new coach comes, and he doesn’t count on me, he wants to sell me,” the Frenchman said. “Many different things could happen.

“But for the moment I feel good there, I am happy there. And in my head I have no thoughts of leaving.

“Today I feel good over there, this year everything is going well for me. I am still under contract with them so all is good. But anything can happen in football very quickly.”

OPINION

There is no way Sissoko should be worrying about his future at Spurs. He is far too valuable to be sold this summer. The Frenchman’s season really exploded into life when Harry Winks and Eric Dier both suffered injury and, when the chance came, he took it with everything he had. He was immense in Spurs’ run to the Champions League final, and could yet put in another stellar performance and surge his side to victory against Liverpool. But whatever happens – if Pochettino does end up leaving – then there is little chance of him leaving. His stock has certainly risen after a fantastic season in North London and he has become one of the most coveted defensive midfielders in the Premier League, but he is too valuable to Spurs and Daniel Levy. If they did end up losing him, it would be a huge loss to Spurs, but there is little chance of it happening.
