Bury manager Ryan Lowe has tipped Rangers loanee Jordan Rossiter to make waves on his return to Ibrox as he insists the midfielder is destined for a bright future.

The 22-year-old was shipped away from the Glasgow giants on loan to the League Two outfit in January after failing to make much of an impact under Steven Gerrard during his first half a season in charge.

Having impressed down in England, Lowe believes the time has come for Rossiter to stamp his mark on the Light Blues and insists if the Gers do not make the most of him, he will make an impact in England.

He told the Herald: “I think a lot of credit has to go to Jordan for his determination and he must have picked up about ten man of the match awards in the 17 games that he played for us. He was instrumental, he was terrific and what a lad, a real hard-working character.

“Obviously at Rangers, Jordan was desperate to play. H e was fit, very fit, when he came to us and maybe a bit unfortunate that he didn’t get into Stevie’s plans. There are quality players around and it is difficult at a club like Rangers.  For me, the only way for Jordan Rossiter now is upwards.

“You don’t get to where he has got to with Liverpool and England and then to Rangers without being a great player. What Jordan has done for us, the way he played and the style he played, was unbelievable.

“For me, Jordan can play in the Premiership all day long and he could play in the Championship because he has got everything in his locker. If he is not going to be for Rangers, he will certainly be for someone in the English leagues.”

Opinion

Big praise from the midfielder’s loan manager and now he has got to try his best to live up to expectation. The Scottish Premiership, as well as the Europa League, is a huge step up from the English fourth flight and it should come as no surprise to hear that he was pulling up trees with Bury. The real challenge for the former Liverpool man is carrying that form and his performances into the summer in a bid to prove to Steven Gerrard that he has the ability to play for a club like Rangers. Obviously his injury problems have decimated his career to date but he is looking like he is finally getting his confidence back, which is absolutely crucial for someone who has been sidelined as long as Rossiter has been. Can he make his mark at Ibrox? Only time will tell, but you can be sure that Gerrard would love to give him every possible opportunity to be part of the club’s plans for the foreseeable future.
