OPINION
Rangers defender Jon Flanagan has been charged by the SFA for elbowing Scott Brown during the Old Firm clash on Sunday and Gers fans are fuming.
Flanagan was booked during the game for the incident but that hasn’t stopped the SFA looking to hit him with retrospective action.
The main beef from the Rangers fans is that they think Celtic are getting away with the same and that Scott Brown is getting away with constant provocation. He got two players sent off in the previous Old Firm clash.
In the game on Sunday, Rangers fans picked up on an elbow by Jozo Simunovic on Jermain Defoe, which the referee didn’t pick up on at the time. It doesn’t look like the Celtic defender will be hit with retrospective action either.
Consistency is what fans want and it often seems to be lacking. However, if you put all that aside and look at the Flanagan incident in a vacuum, it’s hard to see him getting away with what looked like a pretty blatant forearm.
Relations between the two clubs and fans are pretty low at the moment and each side thinks the other is getting preferential treatment.

Fully expect their player to receive the same punishment for the elbow on Defoe….#ThingsThatWontHappen

Given the precedent set in the past by letting Brown do this to other players, without punishment, there is surely no way the SFA can uphold this.

No wonder the three referees want to remain anonymous. Any news on celtics swinging elbow? The sooner this bad celtic joke is scraped the better.
