Suggesting that Ryan Kent could be forgotten at Ibrox would have many Rangers fans up in arms after his dazzling performances for the club this season.

The winger, on loan from Liverpool, has been one of the most impressive performers in Steven Gerrard’s first campaign in Scotland, bombing up and down the wings and striking fear into the heart of opposition defenders.

There is a reason he would likely be the first name on most of the Rangers supporters’, not to mention Gerrard’s, shopping lists this summer but it seems that hope of a return is quickly becoming a fantasy rather than reality.

With a £10million price tag reported by the Sun, the Ibrox outfit are unlikely to be able to battle for his capture – but according to the Daily Record, Sheyi Ojo is set to take his place in Glasgow.

The newspaper claim Ojo is looking more and more likely to replace Kent and journalist Gavin Berry says he has heard that Liverpool are expecting greater things from the potential new Ranger recruit.

He told the Daily Record’s Rangers podcast: “It looks as if Rangers are resigned to losing him and Liverpool have said ‘you’re not getting him but by the way here’s another guy’. He is a Ryan Kent type that will get bums off seats, exciting fans.

“When you talk to people down south then Ojo is one they reckons could feature in the first team down there. He would be a good one to get and certainly to soften the blow of Ryan Kent.”

If Kent can have the sort of impact he did and be surplus to requirements at Anfield, then imagine what Ojo can do in Scotland.

Rangers fans enjoyed a season of Kent but that particular love affair was short lived and if Ojo can live up to his proposed potential, the former Rangers loanee will be quickly forgotten about.
